The Government will host a Marine Industry Forum on August 18 at the Moorings Yacht Club, Wickhams Cay II, from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Discussions will focus on challenges and opportunities in the marine sector, strengthening local day-charter and water-taxi businesses and creating career pathways for Virgin Islanders in the yachting industry.

Junior Minister for Financial Services and Economic Development Lorna Smith OBE previously announced plans for the meeting, saying local operators must be “treated fairly” and “given every opportunity within the boating industry”.

“The boating industry is our advantage in the tourism industry, and we want to make the most of it,” Smith stated.
