Senior UK defence officials visited the British Virgin Islands this week for discussions aimed at strengthening security cooperation, disaster preparedness and the Territory’s resilience.

UK Defence Attaché to the Caribbean, Lieutenant Colonel Simon Dack MBE, and Warrant Officer Class 1 Marc Jefferies, Regimental Sergeant Major of the Cayman Islands Regiment, were welcomed by Governor Daniel Pruce.

According to the Governor’s Office, the visiting officials held discussions with Premier and Minister of Finance Dr. Natalio Wheatley, Acting Commissioner of Police Richard Ullger, Director of Disaster Management Jasen Penn and other officials.

The engagements focused on disaster response capabilities, security partnerships and opportunities for continued cooperation to strengthen the Territory’s preparedness for emergencies.

The visit also included meetings with representatives of the Virgin Islands Cadet Corps, with discussions exploring future collaboration in support of the Territory’s safety, security and resilience.
