The Territory's oldest centenarian, Mrs Enelle Smith has passed away at the age of 107.
In a statement, Minister of Health and Social Development Vincent Wheatley said, Mrs Smith lived an extraordinary life and was a remarkable member of the Virgin Islands community.
"Her 107 years represented a lifetime of experiences, wisdom and memories, and she stood as a cherished connection to generations past. I had the privilege of visiting Mrs Smith on several occasions, particularly during our annual Centenarian celebrations and on her birthdays."
He added, "These visits were always special to me, and I truly enjoyed spending time with her, celebrating the remarkable milestones of her life and sharing in the warmth and joy that surrounded her."
The Ninth District Representative said, Mrs Smith held a special place in the hearts of many, and her passing is not only a tremendous loss to her family and loved ones, but also to the wider Virgin Islands community.
"Her life was one to be celebrated, and her legacy will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her. On behalf of the Government of the Virgin Islands and the Ministry of Health and Social Development, I extend heartfelt condolences to Mrs Smith's family, friends and all those whose lives she touched," he noted.
Wheatley said: As we mourn her passing, may we also celebrate a life well lived and give thanks for the 107 years she shared with us. May her soul rest in eternal peace."
