The Department of Waste Management in collaboration with the Virgin Islands Fire and Rescue Services and the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force are investigating potential arson at the Anegada Dumpsite.
The Ministry of Health and Social Development in a press release issued today May 14, stated that, the fire occurred on Monday May 11 at around 5:00 p.m. To date the majority of the flames have been extinguished however lingering smoke remains in the area.
Director of Waste Management, Mr. Brian Davis is reminding the public that setting fires at the dumpsite is illegal and extremely dangerous. βThis is not the first time this has happened,β the Director revealed and warned that persons found responsible for deliberately igniting fires will face criminal prosecution and other legal consequences.
Residents are advised to exercise caution, avoid unnecessary exposure to smoke, and report any suspicious activity immediately by contacting the department at 468-4934.

Them Solid Waste people is a waste of Taxpayers Money and Time. Don't blame the Anegadians for your problems you can't handle.
The Garbage always PILED HIGH on the DUMP. Them push when them want and don't cover with dirt no more. What them Expect? This site used to be handled good, but recently we in Anegada don't know what going on. Solid Waste need to do better.
