Road Works Commence Between Paraquita Bay And Hodges Creek

(PLTM) - GIS - The Government of the Virgin Islands is constructing 3,813 linear feet of concrete roadway from Paraquita Bay to Hodges Creek.

Minister for Communication and Works Honourable Kye M. Rymer, said the Government is progressing with its Road Improvement initiative and is committed to executing and completing road improvement works as part of the Road Rehabilitation Project from Paraquita Bay to Hodges Creek.

Honourable Rymer said, “Work is set to commence on Thursday, September 26 and we anticipate that these works will take approximately six months. We appreciate the patience and caution of motorists and residents as we continue ‘Building a Better Road Network One Project at a Time.’”

The contract was awarded to Northam Construction for a total of Two Million Three Hundred Eighty-Six Thousand Fifteen Dollars and Ninety-Nine Cents (US$2,386,015.99).

Chief of Infrastructure and Development in the ministry Mr. Duane Fraites, stated that while the project was originally scheduled to begin earlier this year, design modifications necessitated some adjustments. The project scope includes:

Demolition and excavation to remove the existing asphalt layer Construction of manholes, interceptor drains, piping, and drainage systems Building retaining wall structures Earthworks, compaction, and installation of road base Construction of a new reinforced concrete roadway and entrance pavement Coordination with utility and telecommunication companies to ensure service continuity

Updates will be provided as the project progresses.

The Ministry of Communications and Works remains dedicated to enhancing public infrastructure in alignment with international standards, ensuring that public utilities are reliable and affordable for all residents and visitors in the Virgin Islands.
