Public Service Management Bill Receives First Reading

(PLTM) - GIS - Cabinet has approved the Public Service Management Bill, which has received its first reading in the House of Assembly on August 16, 2024.

The Public Service Management Bill represents a significant step forward in enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of our public service sector. This important piece of legislation aims to modernize and streamline the management of public service, ensuring that Government ministries and departments are optimized to effectively serve the needs of the Virgin Islands community.

The Bill seeks to improve the management and operational efficiency of public service institutions, ensuring they are well-equipped to meet the evolving needs of our citizens. In addition, it aims to define the roles and responsibilities of ministers and other senior public officers more clearly, including their capacity to delegate functions and manage ministerial staff effectively.

The Bill also highlights measures to increase transparency and accountability within the public service, fostering greater trust and confidence among the public.

Members of the public are encouraged to review the details of the Public Service Management Bill and provide their feedback.
