(PLTM) - The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) are investigating the circumstances that led to a blaze that destroyed a boat which is part of an ongoing investigation while in custody at the Road Town Police Station.
The fire occurred in the wee hours of this morning, July 22, hours after the boat, 'Donzi' was taken into the custody of the police.
Fire officers managed to contain the fire to the station's parking lot along the fence shared with the Althea Scatliffe Primary School.
While the investigation is ongoing, police sources indicated that the fire may have been deliberately set and mirrors a similar incident when armed men, following a large cocaine bust, invaded the Road Town station reportedly looking for the contraband.
There are no reports of injuries.
