(PLTM) - Embattled Former Premier and Minister of Finance, Andrew Fahie continues to battle with United States Prosecutors to secure the identity of the confidential source (CS) who allegedly played a key role in exposing a plan to move cocaine from a Mexico drug cartel to Miami via BVI ports.

The disclosure of the identity of the CS and other pre-trial requests from Fahie to prosecutors have forced another delay in the start of the substantive trial. “The [U.S] Government has not yet disclosed the identity of the confidential source. As previously noted, Mr. Fahie contends that he needs the information in order to file certain pre-trial motions. The Court, without objection from the Government, previously ruled that such motions could be made any time before trial,” Fahie’s attorney contends.

On June 12, 2023, Fahie’s co-defendants Oleanvine Pickering Maynard, former BVI Ports Director and her son, Kadeem Maynard, both of whom, received a plea deal to cooperate with prosecutors by agreeing to change their plea from not guilty to guilty to a count of conspiracy to import cocaine.

Fahie reportedly has not received disclosure from that the Government pertaining to the Maynards.

In light of the absence of disclosures, Fahie’s team stated that it does not have adequate time to prepare for a trial slated to commence mid-July, 2023, nor to address any pretrial filings until the Government completes its discovery obligations and until such time as the Court may rule on the pending filings relating to the identity of the confidential informant.

The unchallenged motion by Fahie will see a potential trail in Miami on date no sooner than Nov. 1, 2023. Fahie continues to be held under strict bail conditions in the state of Florida where he was arrested during a federal sting operations.
