Update: Belle Vue Duo Charged In Major Drug Bust

(PLTM) - The two men detained in relation to Tuesday morning’s boat chase and drug seizure on Beef Island have been charged.

Vibert Morgan and Okello James, both 34 years and residents of Belle Vue, were charged with possession of a controlled drug with intent to supply to another, and unlawful possession of a controlled drug. Additional charges are pending.

The two will appear before the Magistrate’s Court at the next available sitting.

The early morning joint operation by US Federal agents and the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force involving both air and marine access culminated with a boat chase that ended on Long Bay, Beef Island.

Over 500 kilos of what is believed to be cocaine was seized in the operation along with a speed boat.

Investigations are active and ongoing in this matter.
