We Can’t Afford Another Misstep-Penn Pleads With Voters

(PLTM) - Leader of the National Democratic Party (NDP) Hon. Marlon Penn is pleading with the people of the BVI to vote the NDP into office on Monday April 24, to avoid another misstep of 2019. “This is no time to play games with the future of this territory. We are at a significant crossroad, the decision that we make on Monday is going to determine the trajectory of our country for the next 10, 15, 20 years,” he said on Friday evening April 21 during a rally on Virgin Gorda (VG).

He added, “We cannot afford a next misstep. We need a team that could hit the ground running on day one…we have a solid team moving forward.”

Last week, NDP At-Large candidate Allen O’Neal warned voters about splitting their votes, noting that a coalition government has never worked in the Caribbean region.

O’Neal said the people of the BVI experimented back in 2019 when they elected the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) to office, and that plunged the Territory into the position it’s in today.

At-Large candidate and former Deputy Premier Dr. Kedrick Pickering has also boasted about the BVI being respected under the NDP administration.

He said that the BVI brand took a major hit when former Premier and leader of the VIP Andrew Fahie was arrested in Miami.

"This country was respected far and wide. The BVI was a brand that we could have been proud of. Our brand has taken a hit after the 28th of April [2022]. A lot of us were willing to hang our heads. According to what the old people dem does say, 'hang our head in shame'," he said.

Dr. Pickering said: “But we have the opportunity right now to turn it around. I am back and I am going to fight for the National Democratic Party to get back in government because we did good work for this country and this country was going places and look where we are right now…we have the opportunity on the 24 April to turn that around." General elections is on Monday April 24.

40+ candidates for 13 HOA positions will result in 27+ losers. It is inevitable that some or all of those losers will challenge the election results, demand recounts and eventually bring the whole matter to court for judicial review. Monday, Polling day is only the beginning of the next drama in this cycle to replace the Unity Party aka VIP.

When the NDP paid millions for a new incinerator which was supposed to take care of the open burning problem, but it came without all the parts, would fit the bill of a major misstep. Then they paid for the missing parts again twice and still they have not arrived. Now he cancelled the order for the temporary incinerator and leave the people in the VG, JVD. Anegada, & at the West of Tortola to suffer and die. This incinerator issue somehow missed the COI and Audit for reasons of protection, but it will not last. It will come out.

What kind of step is he calling when he & his NDP gave away 8 million dollars of taxpayers\' money for a plane that never fly and up to now we have no money and no flights.

I guess when Marlon allowed the NDP to take $8 million from the East End/Long Look sewage project and put in the overpriced multimillion dollar pier project & left his people in the east swimming & walking in filth is the kind of missteps he is referring to.
