PVIM Wants Dialogue With UK

(PLTM) - Leader of the Progressive Virgin Islands Movement (PVIM) Ronnie Skelton wants his party to have dialogue with the United Kingdom (UK). He believes that this will allow the UK to understand that if elected to office, there will be transparency and accountability.
"We have to have dialogue with the British, with the Governor and let them know that if PVIM is elected there is no doubt that the people around the PVIM table are highly education people, they understand what needs to happen. Yes we need to have checks and balances in our country," he said during a radio programme this week.
He was following up on comments made by his At-Large candidate Ingrid-Moses Scatliffe, who said one of the first orders after getting into office, is to remove the threat of the Constitution being suspended from 'over our heads'.
"We cannot allow the thing that happened to us to happen again. So, you got to put checks and balances; we need to put systems in place so this never happens [again]," Skelton said.
He also believes that they must support the Auditor General and her office.
"A simple system is let us give the Auditor General what she needs to make sure its properly police...so they, tax-payers, feel that they are getting value for money and a level of respect come back to the country where young people could feel comfortable, politicians are a very negative word around the globe, it's not just the BVI," the former Finance Minister said.
Meanwhile, Moses-Scatliffe said that not only should the order be removed, but there is need to repair the relationship with the UK.
"The relationship between the territory and the UK has been fractured …We have to restore the relationship in order to have a modern partnership with the UK…also part of that is having dialogue with the populace so they understand what that means," she said.
The At-Large candidate also noted that there is need for civics to be back in the school system.

Political interference
I do not support a political party, but it seems clear to me and many others the Governor is politically interfering with this election through his questionable actions and all of a sudden numerous press conferences with the aim of getting the persons he and his UK Officials want in power rather than what the voters and people of the BVI want in power. It is wrong what he is doing.

Ronnie built an overpriced $100 mill hospital where there was no audit nor audit report on the project & strangely enough it did not make the COI because these people are selling us out for their freedom.

You think some of us have short memory? Ndp had the know how when it comes to completing the hospital. Vip had it in smables Danica was MOH and couldn't get Ralph to finance the project be completed

Hon. Ronnie Skelton, Premier. A proven builder who went in and finished the Hospital that was their languishing under many different Administrations. Gave us the first $10,000 tax free when he was Finance Minister. He gave us NHI which helped especially our seniors to visit their doctor without cost and single mothers can now take their children to the doctor and dentist. He was also responsible for the Clinic on Virgin Gorda and will ensure when reelected that it is functioning as it should. Hon. Skelton, we need an ambulance boat too or a helicopter. The VIP spent enough mone to buy one of those. The Complex will be fixed, just like he working along with the RDA completed our High School in record time. Don't be afraid to vote against those who only know how to hand out money. You owe them nothing. It is the tax payers money and they should be careful how much they give out if everything else will got to the dogs.
What is the deciding factor? If they left us in a better position that they found us and the VIP I can say certainly did not. They spent over a billion dollars and we are worse off.

Ronnie for premier!!! He's running at large and will get my vote along with many others. The other two who want to be premier running in districts. I trust Ronnie with finance more VIP. If we have a coalition government marlon can be deputy. We need unity in this country not the bs slow man trying to push on us.

If VIP returns with some of their members, there is a problem. Hon. Malone and Hon. Wheatley were taken down from their Ministries. Allen Wheatley in the Eighth plead guilty and spent time in jail for stealing from the Treasury. So who will be our Cabinet Members under VIP? We have to stop playing Russian roulette with our country and our lives. Stop thinking about ourselves. We are in a bad state because of these green politicians who are making huge decisions in favour of themselves but to the detriment of the populous. We cannot continue 4 more years of this. We need leaders who will take us forward. This crew didn't even maintain the status quo as we can see from the roads etc, but they had more money than anybody else to spend as they took an extra $40 million from Social Security. I would like to say to the 4,000 of you who Hon. Rymer said have the money in your pockets, that wasn't his money or any of his cronies money to give. It was the people's money. It is wrong to give out free money and ignore the schools, hospitals and roads and those are just a few. But on the rostrum to say it is in your pockets? Well, there is a reason why there is a private area to vote. He deserves nobody's vote after saying that. There are a lot more than 4,000 persons in this country. In America everybody got $1,200 every few months and children $600. If you are trying to help your people they should be people who are truly in need and spread out over the population if you are willing to give out millions willy nilly. I would prefer my handout go towards patching the roads and fixing the schools for our children personally and so I am sure would many others. They are self-destructing on the rostrum. Showing you they have no idea what is right and what is wrong. Let them carry on.

If we elect back the VIP the UK is going to surspend the constitution. Malone n Vincent can't be ministers cause they did a lot of ..... while in government. Remember it was Marlon after becoming MOH that abolish the requirements for COVID test on arrivals to help boost the tourism industry

Putting things in perspective
The country went through the roughest four years of its existence. The VIP had to deal with Irma damages that were not fixed by NDP and had to deal with covid which was the worse pandemic in the last 100yrs, and they did well. They were not perfect, but they did well especially when you compare them to other governments including the UK. Remember the UK told the BVI they are not giving us any grants or funds to help with covid and they further said use our own funds to help ourselves as they have to use what they have to help their UK residents in the UK. The health people in the BVI said if the government do not act swiftly the BVI would have between 3500 to 5000 people with covid and will die and the numbers will continue to increase. The VIP Government was criticized by Fraser and the NDP 1 & NDP 2 for closing down the cruise industry & then the entire country only to see two weeks later the entire world followed the BVI and shut down to try to save lives. If this was not done most of us would not be alive now. As a people we need to remember these facts and give VIP a second term rather than listening to those who sold us out to get power from those who refused to help us but now trying to make us look bad through COI & other actions to save themselves and save their face internationally.

Something is not right
More and more people are asking how come the COI, the Governor, the Auditor General and the UK Head of Police in the BVI are ignoring all the questionable conduct of Fraser and the NDP. No mention of the eight-million-dollar plane heist. No mention of the rich eighty folks that got Belongers under the NDP in 2019 fast track programme that did not qualify while the common man who lived in the BVI for years was ignored. No mention of the Sea Cow's Bay harbor project and all the money to….. No mention of the overpriced pier project of one hundred million dollars. No mention of the overpriced eighty-million-dollar new hospital building. No mention of the Georgie Hill Road project that started in the thousands and ended up in the millions with many people land taken and not compensated to date. The list is endless. Something is not right here. Is it they are all working together to try to influence the elections against the VIP to get VIP out of office so they can take over and sell us out for their freedom? SOMETHING IS NOT RIGHT!!!

Marlon have you brain washed. The UK Officials will never deal with the BVI or any of their Caribbean Overseas Territory justly. They have always and will always see us as inferior to them and not worthy. Whether we want to admit it or not it is time to come out of their house as even their own people are complaining of their stewardship. They gave us no help during Irma and then covid. They have us blind that we cannot see that we are our saviors and not them.

The pension begins immediately after a president's departure from office.[6] A former president's spouse may also be paid a lifetime annual pension of $20,000 if they relinquish any other statutory pension.[2]
Now after reading that, why our former politicians receive pension and gratuity. Now, many of them do not need such monies, But I am sure President Barack Obama doesn't go the USA treasury and tell them nah I'm good I make enough.
He worked hard while in office and is deserving of such.
And as to WHY the governor let it pass in his office. The pasted information should of shed light on such.

I thought UK Minister already say BVI okay
I thiught the UK Minister already come to BVI in January and talk with Sowande them? He said things good right now with BVI and UK because Unity Government was doing what it was supposed to do. Only problem left is the Order in Council thing. You late Ronnie.

Ingrid you ain the same one who refused to let Jaspert get sworn in the House of Assembly. And bragging about it. That behavior is part of why the man hated the BVI. He felt disrespected by you Ingrid from the time he reach. No wonder he ain hesitate to call a COI before he leave. How can you fix things with the UK when you can't even respect a Governor as the UK man in the BVI.

I have being shouting, whispering, advocating your name as the best man for Premier, not knowing all the while you have collected and are collecting Tax Payers money when you are more than gainfully employed. You should have at least refused that monthly payment a show of state manhood, you are so well off you don't need it. All you all involved in this secretively raping of our treasury, not good, can't continue. Has to stop, the whole bill from the creation was and is bad and need to repeal, in doing so, consider, Nurses, Teachers, Garbage workers, Minimum wage workers, etc...Do better for them...You all action is all selfishness and self enrichment...Not Good. Now I can support a Britain take over and I am wondering how did this bill mis the Gov and wasn't on the COI list.
