(PLTM) - Embattled former Premier Andrew Fahie is still running the country and the people of the BVI are being pleaded with to vote the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) out. This claim came from Second District Representative Hon. Melvin 'Mitch' Turnbull.

"While they [VIP] are there listening and entertaining head coach our country is in shambles. You let a man who fighting for his life still lead you and you telling me you are a leader. Man go sit down and shut up your mouth because now if he could have call in the Congress that mean he was calling in all the time," Turnbull said last evening, March 19.

He was speaking during the launch of the Progressives Virgin Islands Movement (PVIM) campaign at the Noel Lloyd Positive Action Movement Park.

Fahie was identified as 'head coach' in the allegations laid out against him by the United States following his arrest in Miami in April 2022 on drug trafficking and money laundering charges in connection with a sting operation in the BVI.

Hon. Turnbull alleged that the VIP's second district candidate who is like 'a mother' to him received a call during the party's Congress from 'head coach'.

He did not name the candidate.

"Because they say strong rumours, people talking, that head coach make call in the Congress and tell them they must run. So lawd mother you listening to the head coach too even from where he is, he still running our country, he still interfering in our affairs," Hon. Turnbull said.

Hon. Turnbull added, "Ladies and gentlemen we must, we have to, we got to put them out. It is no way you are talking about this country that has been embarrassed on the world stage, that has been led to a CoI, that had to deal with our Premier who went away on a government business, instead of government business he moved on to other business without a second and now still cannot come back from the trip."

According to Hon. Turnbull, during Fahie's time as Premier, VIP government members all sat and said 'I, I' in the House of Assembly and did not use their voices against what was happening.

"And these are the type of people, that you want to tell me that you weren’t there; that you didn’t know; that you didn’t hear; that you didn’t smell. You didn’t see; you couldn’t use your voice, and now you want to come back and tell the people it was a mistake."

He added, "One time is a mistake, two time you willful, and three time, you wotless and for your wotless and willful behavior what we are going to do? Put them out."

The Second District Representative vowed "nothing green in 2023".

"Vote out the Virgin Islands Party and restore it with this blue team under the leadership of Ronnie W. Skelton who has proven leadership," Hon. Turnbull stated.
