(PLTM) - Stating that she has a responsibility and duty to make a better way of life for future generations, former Speaker of the House of Assembly, Ingrid Moses-Scatliffe has entered the 2023 General Elections as an AT-Large Candidate of the Progressive Virgin Islands Movement (PVIM).

“If not now, then when?” said Moses-Scatliffe when she appeared alongside the PVIM’s At-Large Candidates who included party chairman, Ronnie Skelton, Shaina Smith-Archer and Stacy ‘Buddha’ Mather.

“In all my 53 years; that’s as long as I have been alive there has never been a more critical time in the life of this Territory than now. It is imperative for all of us to understand where we are as a people and where we need to go to overcome the challenges that present themselves before us. The challenges are not just here locally. The challenges are internationally and globally,” Moses-Scatliffe said on Monday, March 6.

The At-Large Candidate explained that her stance has always been a principled one even at times when she stands alone.

“It is this principle, the reason why I made the decision to stand for elections. I believe it is one of the most critical times in the Territory and we need people who are strong, capable, competent and who have integrity, accountability, transparency…its hope,” the former Speaker stated.

She added, “The people of the Territory need hope so that we can move forward with a sense of purpose. We need to empower our people and inspire them because we must admit we need inspiring leadership. That is the hope everyone wants and that is why I am here, and the entire team is here. We need a reset, and we need to do it now.”

Scatliffe-Moses has always been named as a potential candidate for elections and there were discussions that she would have entered the 2019 polls as a candidate of the National Democratic Party (NDP) which was led at the time by her long-time business associate, Myron Walwyn, the former Minister of Education.
