(PLTM) - Surrounded by a heavy presence of local police at the Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport, Nyron Erickson, also known as 'West Bank' was extradited to the United States today, February 27.

He was handed over to U. S officials and boarded a helicopter bound for a neighbouring U.S Territory.

Erickson's extradition was cleared by the Judicial Committee of the United Kingdom's Privy Council which shot down a final effort by lawyers fighting his extradition to the United States where he is wanted on charges of conspiracy to launder monetary instruments from outside of the U.S and conspiracy to conceal more than $10,000 from outside the US.

"The application for permission to appeal should be refused because the appeal does not raise an arguable point of law,' according to the ruling of February 15.

The court's decision came having considered an application for permission to appeal from a judgment of the Court of Appeal of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court (British Virgin Islands) dated 11th August 2022 in the matter of Nyron Erickson Appellant v United States of America Respondent.

The court had considered written submissions from the parties.

"HIS Majesty was pleased by and with the advice of His Privy Council to approve the report and to order that those charged with administering the Government of The British Virgin Islands and all others whom it may concern are to ensure that it is punctually observed and obeyed," the court ruling states.
