No $$ For Youth Parliament

(PLTM) - There are no funds available for Youth Parliament.

This was made clear during the Standing Finance Committee (SFC).

Hon. Sharie B. de Castro, Minister for Education, Youth Affairs and Sports inquired about any funds allocated under the Youth Parliament.

Phyllis Evans, Clerk of the House of Assembly stated that there are no funds allocated for the Youth Parliament.

The Education Minister stated that funds should be allocated to the Youth Parliament to effectively operate.

Hon. de Castro has been supporting the Youth Parliamentarians in their angles used in debates, their use and adherence to the standing orders of the mock parliament, and their scrutiny of bills.

Sad. Yet they keep talking about our young people.

Why do they need funds. We are not trying to encourage them to hand funds out to friends and family. Good thinking and developing the VI for all, is what we want. All that needs is new minds with fresh thinking and no money to corrupt that thinking. If they need a place to do that thinking and policy planning there are many in the VI that would provide that for free. Some will provide it at a future cost (we do not need them) and others will provide it to enable our young people without fear or favor to offer hope to the VI.

This is a serious year we don't have time for youth Parliament folly. Its the youth who have made a mess of this country in every aspect.
