Two Sets Of Workers Approved For Honoraria Payments

(PLTM) - The Cabinet of the Virgin Islands has approved the payment of honoraria to persons who worked substantially outside of their normal hours and areas of work for an extended period in response to the COVID-19 pandemic in the Territory.

According to a Cabinet brief of the December 9, 2022, meeting, the COVID-19 related payment in the amount of $219,192.71 covers the period 24th February 2020 to 31st December 2021.

Additionally, select staff from the Ministry of Finance have also been approved for an honorarium payment for their exceptional performance, dedication, and a significant amount of overtime service provided throughout the years, and especially during the annual Budget period in the amount of $68,188.58.

There was no indication as to when the payments would be made.

You're kidding me. Finance are getting bonuses for their work during the pandemic, Finance.
We are truly insane.

Really

I cannot believe they are paying people in finance who once every year works overyine for two weeks to get the budget ready. Workers in healthservices work overtime everyday, 12 am1am, 2am,3am 4am, 5 am, holidays, Saturdays and Sunday and never a penny paid, not even thank you, (only from the greatful. Sympathysing patients). They must be slaves.

I hope the staff at HSA especially those who worked on the Covid unit, ED and the Infection control nurse who worked ridiculous hours get from that money too

I hope they remember persons that work at the hospital that had to deal directly with covid day after day

Curious

The health professionals and staff at hospital and the home for the elderly should be the ones to beneficia. Working 12 hour shifts with not a cent overtime exposing their lives and their families to covid. Many of whom caught it trying to take care of the sick patient. Elderly who would have died had it not been for the caregivers. But I doubt any of it would go to them. Unless they got a brother or uncle in government looking out for them.

Minister Kindly dont forget the workers at the Adina Donovan Home. These worker took care of residents who we're stricken with the Covid virus during the pandemic. These workers was put on 12hr shifts due to the shortage of healthcare worker after some fell prey to the virus. Reliable source said. These Healthcare workers we're not recognized for great task they have done...not to mention working though past floods and hurricanes where there were less hands on deck. Furthermore, reliable sources said their we're no 25.00 certificate voucher given to them this year....and no Christmas party, ham nor turkey..

Wow! i don't know who Tammi David is but that girl worke. I was told she had the cell phone that was advertised as my family contacted her from the states and i recalled reaching out to her on facebook because i didnt know who to call.. I hope her as well as Lynette Harrigan are being rewarded as well.

Nah we wouldn't get anything.....at the time, they were asking for volunteers who got passes to do the deliveries. We outta luck ?????

Ministry of Finance staff getting honorarium for over time work, didn't they get over time pay? Maybe I'm wrong but I thought honorarium goes to the people who natural day to day work put them and their family at serious health risk..

Finance personnel had to work o entire because Ministries and Departments didn't submit their budget projections on time
