(PLTM) - Three tenders were received from prequalified Virgin Islands based construction companies for the construction of a new Joint Marine Shore Base Building.
Autland Heavy Equipment Co. Ltd, Metro Construction Ltd. and James Todman Construction, the three shortlisted/prequalified companies, submitted their tenders which included a technical and financial proposal for the construction of the Joint Marine Shore Base Building.
The Marine Shore Base Building sustained significant damage during the hurricanes of 2017 and is currently inoperable. The facility is critical to the Virgin Islands Security as it functions as a base to fight against illegal immigration, illegal importation, and narcotics smuggling.
The Scope of Works required for this project includes the demolition of the existing building – with the exception of the cisterns, the construction of a new two-story reinforced concrete building measuring 5,656 sq. ft, and auxiliary works to include the sewer treatment system, boat rack platform, and civil works, in accordance with detailed design drawings, specifications and a Bill of Quantities.
The tenders will now be evaluated, and the winning tender announced upon the completion of the Tender Evaluation Process. This project is being overseen by the Recovery and Development Agency (RDA).

This is just going to be a big air conditioned place for the police to hang out and play dominoes.
Better idea - turn the Gun Creek immigration office into the Marine Police Station. There is a full service boat yard with mechanics right next door. The drug runners coming into VG not Road Town.
This is just another waste of money, getting built by someone's cousin. We need real police to solve these gun and drug problems before they take over our country.
