(PLTM) - Mrs. Stephanie Benn, Registrar General, Civil Registry and Passport Office has died, relatives have confirmed with BVI Platinum News.
According to information provided, Mrs. Benn passed away while in Puerto Rico today, October 24.
As a consequence of her passing, the Government of the Virgin Islands has announced that the Civil Registry and Passport Office will be closed tomorrow, October 25.
Mrs. Benn was a graduate of the university of the Virgin Islands with a BS in accounting. She was also a graduate of the University of Manchester, UK with a MSc in Management.
She had assumed the post of registrar General in October2007 and is credited in moving the department into a more modern operation through constant staff training and a desire to do away with manual processing of various applications and services.
Ms. Benn was recognised in 2019 by the Deputy Governor, Mr. David Archer, for her outstanding performance, efficiency and responsiveness.
She was also involved in numerous community projects through the work of Rotary in the BVI.
