(PLTM) - The two-time Commonwealth Games Champion and NACAC Champion, Kyron McMaster will be coming to the Virgin Island for a brief family visit as confirmed by the BVI Olympic Committee.
The 400m hurdler specifically requested a low-key reception.
To honour his request, a press conference is scheduled for 6:00pm on Thursday, September 15, 2022 at the Departure Lounge of the Road Town Ferry Port.
McMaster is expected to arrive from St. Thomas ahead of the press conference.
The official welcoming party will include Acting Premier Hon. Kye Rymer, Hon. Sharie De Castro, Minister for Education, Culture, Youth Affairs and Sports, BVIOC/BVICGA Executive, BVIAA Executive, and the Birmingham 2022 delegation. Kyron’s immediate family members will also be in attendance.
Mr. Steve Augustine, the President of BVI Athletics Association (BVIAA) and Mr. Ephraim Penn, President BVI Commonwealth Games Association are expected to give remarks.
The general public will be invited to meet McMaster at the port of arrival, following the press conference at approximately 6:30.
McMaster is also scheduled to visit the Ebenezer Thomas Primary School and the Elmore Stoutt High School during his time in the Territory.
Last month, Kyron McMaster successfully secured a championship record as part of his defense of the NACAC 400m hurdle title-run in Bahamas. McMaster finished his race in a time of 47.34 seconds to post a new championship record while also gaining a qualification time to compete at the 2023 World Championships which is scheduled be held in Budapest, Hungary.
