(PLTM) - Leroy Simpson, formerly of Paraham Town, will be remembered by those who knew him as a “very kind and helpful person”.
Last week, friends and family of the late Leroy Simpson, were thrown into bouts of grief and shock when his lifeless body was found in Purcell Estate by his girlfriend at her residence.
BVI Platinum News spoke to Kamar Banks, a close friend of the deceased Jamaican National, who has known him over the last eight years.
According to Banks, Simpson was a well-rounded individual, and while he possessed many skills and capabilities in several areas including carpentry and masonry, he specialized in steel bending.
“He also did auto mechanics, not as a profession but as a hobby. Just about anybody who wanted help with their cars, he would assist and he would do it for free, ” Banks said.
Simpson, who passed away at the age of 55, reportedly suffered hypertension.
“I was very shocked when I heard he had died because I didn’t know him to be that sick. He wasn’t sick to the point where he was bedridden or anything like that, ” Banks expressed.
“A mutual friend of ours called me to ask if I heard about his passing and I told her no. She was trying to confirm, at the time,” Banks stated.
This prompted him to reach out to other persons about his friend’s death and also to drive to the scene of the incident.
When he was certain that it was indeed Leroy Simpson who had passed away, Banks said reality began to set in slowly.
Simpson will be affectionately remembered as someone who fully enjoyed and appreciated life, and who was always ready to have a good time.
“He loved life and most days after a hard day of work, he loved to have a few drinks, especially Heineken, and enjoy relaxation with his friends,” Banks fondly recalled.
“His death is a great loss to his family, friends and the entire BVI community. He will be greatly missed and remembered as a kind hearted and helpful person,” Banks reiterated.
