(PLTM) - The Virgin Islands' Kyron McMaster pulled off a championship record as part of his successful defense of the NACAC 400m hurdle title-run in Bahamas on Sunday, August 21. McMaster crossed the line in a time of 47.34 seconds to establish a new championship record while also securing the required qualification time to compete at the 2023 World Championships which is scheduled be held in Budapest, Hungary.
Earlier this month, McMaster has successfully defended his Commonwealth Games gold medal title at the Birmingham 2022 400m hurdles.
McMaster built a sizeable lead towards the middle of the race and maintained it on the closing stretch to cross the finish line in 48.93 seconds to retain his Commonwealth Games.
Residents including elected officials took to Facebook to congratulate McMaster on his accomplishments.
