Business Man Charged In ESHS Wall Probe

(PLTM) - Kelvin Thomas, 55, of Chalwell Estate, Tortola has been charged after a specialist investigative team conducted a comprehensive review of the investigation conducted by the Police in 2020, into the Elmore Stoutt High School Perimeter Wall Project.

"Thomas is charged with obtaining property by deception, contrary to the 1997 Criminal Code (as amended), secondly, making a false statement to a public officer, contrary to the 1997 Criminal Code (as amended) and thirdly, possession of the proceeds of criminal conduct, contrary to the Proceeds of Criminal Conduct Act, 1997 (as amended)," a press release issued by the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) stated.

Thomas was granted Police Bail and is scheduled to appear at the Magistrates’ Court on a later date. In addition, other associated persons were interviewed by Police officer(s) and were subsequently released, pending additional probes.

Further investigations were conducted by the specialist investigative team to ensure there was a complete compilation of further actions requested, and that the investigation was impartial and thorough.

According to the press release , “The RVIPF believes that all suspects, accused, victims and witnesses have a right to due process and a right to a fair trial. Therefore, the Force will neither issue any further comments on this matter at this time nor entertain queries on this ongoing investigation.”
