(PLTM) - The 23rd annual Christmas in D-City is on!
The two-day event which kicked off today, Friday, December 3, has a total of 35 vendors showcasing their wares, food, clothing, Christmas décor, and many more at Shore Way Drive in Road Town Tortola.
When BVI Platinum News visited the event earlier today, a few persons were seen browsing through the items of display despite the blazing afternoon sun.
Our news centre also caught up with the City Manager Janice Brathwaite-Edwards to get an update on what’s taking place.
She informed: “On stage right now is the disabilities presentation. From a community perspective we invited them to come, what they are doing is presenting certificates to the young people who went through a European Programme and they now are getting certified, so that’s what happening this morning.”
She continued: “A little later this afternoon we will have the Minister for Education and the Minister of Transportation and Works to give remarks and declare the Christmas in D-City open.”
When the night falls, shoppers and patrons will have the opportunity to have musical entertainment in an effort to ignite the Christmas spirit.
The Althea Scatliffe Drum Corps will provide entertainment from about 4 pm to 5 pm followed by a fashion show by UMI.
There will be performances by the Adagio Dance Group and DC Four Strong Int. Band will close off the night.
On Saturday, the Althea Scatliffe Primary School dancers, fungi band and junior choir are slated to perform, as well as Zion Sounds and Leon and the Hot Shots.
