(PLTM) - After 30 years of existence, the British Virgin Islands Ports Authority (BVIPA) has a new image.

“This modern and updated look will allow the BVI Ports Authority to stand out from the crowd. As we turn 30, we need to reinvent ourselves in order to remain relevant in a rapidly changing COVID-19 era and market place,” BVIPA’s Managing Director Dean Fahie said during a live ceremony to mark the event on Friday, September 18.

He said the new look is fitting for the entity’s 30th anniversary.

Fahie added, “What better way to celebrate one’s birthday than with a new look? It is this realization that has driven our brand, migration, our new corporate identity. It is intended to incorporate the values that drive us, that represent us at the BVIPA.”

More Than A Cosmetic Change

Fahie said the new identity is more than a ’cosmetic change’ of a logo and colours.

He explained, “It is underpinned by a deep cultural change both within the authority and by global markets. This refreshed brand is evident of our commitment to keep the BVI moving.”

In further explaining the reason behind the change, Chairman of the BVIPA board of Directors Kelvin Hodge said the BVIPA chose ‘the anchor’ emblem because it depicts stability.

“The BVI Ports Authority has demonstrated its longevity,” he remarked.

He added, “It is a symbol of hope when it is lifted from the waters; it represents an adventure, a new voyage or journey. An anchor is raised when we enter a new era just as the ship is about to set sail.”

Happy About The Change

Premier and Minister responsible for Ports, Hon. Andrew Fahie said he was pleased that even though the BVI ports remain closed, the authority continues to push forward and get ready for the new regular as visitors prepare to return to this Territory soon.

“Maintaining this territory’s port service is a key part of our economic rebooting. It helps to facilitate business continuity through ports and shipping, which are an essential part of the socio-economic environment of this territory,” he pointed out.
