(PLTM) - NAGICO Insurances has been recognized for its continued exemplary service by winning the BVI Finance’s Insurance Agency of the Year Award which celebrates the vital role played by the company in the financial services industry and the wider British Virgin Islands community. The prestigious award was presented to NAGICO Insurances at the Financial Services Gala Awards Dinner, a red-carpet affair recognizing the past, celebrating the contributors building the future, and rewarding those who have done outstanding work in the past year. “I express the collective gratitude of NAGICO Insurances, the management and staff for being voted the insurance company of the year,” said Ms Shaquilla Smith, Assistant Manager for Customer Service. Ms Smith attended the gala dinner held on the Scrub Island Resort on Thursday November, 28 2019 and accepted the award on behalf of the company and Managing Director, Mr. Shan Mohamed. The award ceremony was the highlight of the evening’s celebration as Premier and Minister of Finance, Honourable Andrew Fahie described it as the “people’s choice awards” presented to 14 winners from among 47 nominees. Ms Smith said, “The award represents the unwavering support, collective trust, faith and confidence residents of the Virgin Islands has placed in NAGICO Insurances as a reliable insurance provider. According to Ms Smith, the award also validates NAGICO’s commitment to the Territory, especially following the catastrophic hurricanes of 2017 when the team worked collectively to meet the high demand for claims settlements. “We are truly the company that is fast, fair and always there. We look forward to continuing our unmatched service to the Virgin Islands in 2020 by providing innovative products, best rates and undertaking projects within the community that fulfills our overall mission as a good corporate partner,” Ms Smith indicated. This year marks the 35th anniversary of the International Business Company Act, 1984, which helped to establish the financial services industry in the British Virgin Islands. In commemoration of such a milestone, BVI Finance along with a group of financial services practitioners, came together to host a week of events that aim to highlight the moments that have brought the BVI to this 35th year and to celebrate those who have played a vital role in the industry. Themed “35 Years of Innovation”, financial services week ended on November 29,, 2019, with activities also being held in Hong Kong and London. In 2017, NAGICO BVI was awarded the ‘Best of BVI Businesses’ award in the category of ‘Best Insurance Agency BVI’. The Best of BVI Businesses Awards are an initiative of the BVI Department of Trade, Investment Promotion and Consumer Affairs and was part of their first annual Trade Entrepreneurial Week.
