(PLTM) - After 20 months of investigations, the death of 20-year-old BVIslander Nathaniel Isaac Jr. is still being treated as a mystery, as experts report that they have not been able to determine a cause of death.

Nathaniel was described as a model student, and in 2018, a few days after New Year's Day, the news of his passing sent many in the Territory into mourning.

Many questions surfaced as it was announced that Nathaniel was found dead at the Manchester Metropolitan University in the United Kingdom (UK) on January 5, 2018.

This young BVIslander, who was from West End, was a student at the University where he was studying Business Technology.

According to reports by UK media, his body was found at his student flat in Hulme, Greater Manchester, five days after he allegedly died.

Since his death, it has been reported that extensive testing was carried out to determine the cause of his demise, but it was stated that no cause could be determined. It was also mentioned that Nathaniel’s father had raised claims that his son was poisoned, but the investigators said that they found no trace of toxic substance, and as such poisoning was ruled out.

On September 12, an inquest into his death took place and according to reports, it is being suggested that Nathaniel died while being severely hungover. It was said that he was out the night before with a fellow student and that his body was found in his room, which was locked from inside.

During the inquest, students who knew Nathaniel gave evidence that he was a model student who was liked by all and took his studies seriously.

One person mentioned that they received a text from Nathaniel, which is said to be the last he sent. The text reportedly said, “My body feels crippled lol.” However, the student said that they assumed the reference was in relations to being hungover.

"I assumed by the 'lol' that he was hungover from the night before as there were no other health problems as far as I knew. But that was the last message he sent me," the student said.

It was mentioned by Det Insp Gavin Smith of the Greater Manchester Police that no sign of foul play was seen.

''There were two tissues stuffed up both of Nathaniel's nostrils as if for a nose bleed, but there was no evidence of trauma or any physical attack. A security guard and one of his friends had gone into his room and found him. He was in the room which was locked from the inside,” he said.

Nathaniel was a former student of the Elmore Stoutt High School and the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College.
