(PLTM) - Grammy Award-winning Jamaican reggae singer Buju Banton has arrived in Tortola, ahead of the highly-anticipated Long Walk to Freedom concert set to take place tomorrow, Saturday, June 15.

The singer was greeted by private sector and government officials upon his arrival at the Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport on Beef Island, earlier today.

Buju will be performing at the Festival Grounds in Road Town.

Preparations for this massive entertainment event started several months ago, and the stage and other final touches to the venue are being made, according to tourism officials.

The Jamaican artiste's tour started in his home country where he performed at the National Stadium in Kingston, Jamaica in March. The concert attracted thousands of Jamaicans and others.

Buju also performed in some Caribbean countries including The Bahamas, Trinidad & Tobago, Barbados, Suriname and Guyana. After the BVI, he will travel to other parts of the world, particularly Europe.

The artiste, whose real name is Mark Myrie, was arrested in 2009 on cocaine charges, given a mandatory 10-year sentence in 2011, and released this year.

Days after his conviction, Buju won a Grammy Award for his album Before Dawn. His other albums include ‘Til Shiloh (1995), Inna Heights (1997) and Unchained Spirit (2000).

The reggae superstar is known for hits such as “Untold Stories”, “Wanna Be Loved”, “Champion”, “Deportees”, “Not An Easy Road” and much more.

The initial ticket cost was $65, and is now $75. VIP tickets are $185.

The show gets underway at 5.00 p.m.
