(PLTM) - Police has confirmed that last night’s shooting victim is Lenia Green, a 46 year old BVI islander, who resided at Great Mountain. Green died as a result of injuries sustained.

According to a release from the Police Information Office this afternoon, May 27, at approximately 8:30 pm, police responded to a report of a woman being shot and left on the road at George’s North Side.

The release further noted that EMTs were also on the scene and transported the woman to the Dr. D. O. Smith hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.

The RVIPF Major Crime Team has since arrested a male on suspicion of murdering Lenia Green.

The man is currently being held at the Road Town Police Station for questioning.

According to the Police Information Office, “A suspect is arrested on suspicion when there is a probability that that person has committed a crime. The suspect is interviewed, and responses are placed on record as part of the evidence needed to build a case for charges to be laid.”

They further explained, “The arrest does not mean that police have proven that the suspect committed the crime. In fact, the suspect may be discharged following the interview.”

Investigations are still very active in this murder. Therefore, persons are invited to come forward and assist police with information that can help in identifying a perpetrator in this case.
