(PLTM) - The police have launched an investigation into the incident yesterday, Tuesday, January 8, where a safari carrying thirteen tourists caught fire and later exploded.
Acting Police Information Officer, Sergeant Beverly James in a press release stated that police received a report of the incident involving Motor Taxi TX848, and arrived on scene as the fire was being extinguished.
She said that preliminary investigations “revealed that the driver of the said bus was traveling up hill on the Joe's Hill Public Road when the bus encountered mechanical difficulty, resulting in the front portion of the bus bursting into flames.”
The thirteen tourists on board were not injured and were allowed to continue their tour on a different bus, the press statement further shared.
According to Sergeant James, investigation continues in collaboration with representatives from the BVI Tourist Board and the Taxi and Livery Commission, and Fire and Rescue Department.
