(PLTM) - A nationalised citizen, who resides on Jost-van-Dyke, found herself before the court after she allegedly stole a “Gucci handbag” from a Main Street store, and assaulted the store owner when she was caught.

Wendy Hendricks denied all three charges in relation to the April 28, 2017 incident.

The charges read that she stole an $85 grey “Gucci handbag” and damaged several items in the store belonging to Simone Fahie.

Among the items destroyed were a glass showcase, mannequin heads, a makeup display and a door, valued at a collective $554.

She was also charged for assaulting Fahie.

The court head that on the day of the incident, Hendricks went to the store, picked up a hair-clip and proceeded to pay for it.

While doing that, Fahie noticed her pick up something and stuff it into a plastic bag.

The owner left the cashier’s area and went to the back of the store where she noticed the bag was missing. She confronted the woman and told her she would have to pay for the handbag. Instead of complying, Hendricks tried to leave.

When the owner tried to stop her, she reportedly knocked over the glass showcase and mannequins, and assaulted Fahie.

In court, Hendricks maintained that did not steal anything and all of the allegations are lies.

She had a prepared statement as she opted to represent herself.

Magistrate Shawn Innocent told her that she would have to wait until the trial to present her story, to which the woman responded, “I know the truth and the truth shall set you free…so let it roll.”

She will return to court on November 20.
