(PLTM) - The National Democratic Party (NDP) delegates have elected Hon. Myron Walwyn as the next leader of the party, replacing Hon. Dr. D. Orlando Smith, who has served the party as leader for some 20 years.
During the highly anticipated Convention, where the internal elections were held this evening, June 23, at Treasure Isle, Hon. Walwyn went up against one of the party's founder, Hon. Ronnie Skelton.
Dr. Smith, who will continue to serve as Premier until the next general elections, which are constitutionally due by June next year, did not contest the party elections.
Meanwhile, Hon. Marlon Penn was voted in as the new Deputy Chairman, replacing another party founder, Hon. Dr. Kedrick Pickering. Hon. Penn went up against Hon. Melvin Mitch Turnbull.
