Return Of Music Fest! Gov't Mulls Moving It From CGB

(PLTM) - After an 11 year hiatus, the BVI Music Festival is set to return next year however, it may not be held in its original location of Cane Garden Bay (CGB).

On Friday June 2, during a press conference, Premier and Finance Minister Dr Natalio Wheatley said that other locations have been discussed, but there is "no final discussion on that".

He said that with the engagement of the events manager at the BVI Tourist Board, they can expect more events throughout the year that will provide the opportunity for visitors to come from the United States, neighboring United States Virgin Islands, other islands in the region, along with 'our very own residents' looking for the opportunity to enjoy 'our little piece of paradise'.

"We can expect the return of the music fest in 2024," he stated.

Premier Wheatley said that the BVI Tourist Board will be managing Music Fest going forward.

"I promised them I will provide financial support so they can get to book their artistes," the Premier stated.

He stated that the date for Music Fest 2024 will be announced later this year.

The last Music Fest was held in 2013.

It was previously noted that the three-day event which has attracted major international recording artistes, requires more financial assistance from the government and at least six months of planning before the event is held.

Pls pay the bvi port staff their increments for 2020 2021 and 2022.\n We tired of you all crap. We work to hard to be out here begging for our monies. Everybidy the goveenment put in charge keep theifing the d**m money. Give us what u owe he. Everyday is lies and more loes to covee like. Bvi electricity get there increments. Socail security board. Wth wrong with port. Only bringing a set of people who dont like other peoole. We got families to feed to first quarter done gine and not even a memo to explain why we still waiting for our own sh** You guys need to come clean tell us where our monies gone. Who went with it.

Why can\'t the funds come from the private sector? Especially the liquor and drinks brands distributed by RTW, Caribbean Cellars, TICO etc?

Because they do not sponsor more than $5 or $10 thousand. Duh\n\nMoving the event from CGB would be a huge mistake. Tourism Board can’t manage a thing! Not even the new appointed Events Manager ever put on an event of this scale. He don’t put on events at all ever tbh. He is but an engineer. Even August Fest he come meet running. This a different barrel of crabs! Let the private organizers run the event and provide the sponsorship. Simply ask for some financial on how they spend the money. Government need to stay out of things and just support!
