(PLTM) - The highly anticipated Emancipation Festival parade returned after a two year hiatus and proved to be successful with scores taking to the streets on Monday, August 1.

The parade consisted of approximately 20 troupes and hundreds of revelers. The procession made its way through the streets of Road Town, and delighted spectators who were also fully engaged along the route.

Minister for Culture Hon. Sharie de Castro stated the parade was especially amazing and special since it was the first Emancipation Day parade since the onset of the pandemic.

She told BVI Platinum News that despite the relatively late announcement of the parade, the turnout was commendable.

The Minister added, “To see persons come together in such a unified manner to have fun in a safe and enjoyable manner brings joys to my heart.”

She was also happy for the support of patrons who participated as well.
