(PLTM) - For the most outstanding student of 2022 at the Elmore Stoutt High School, Christina Creque, her success came as no surprise due to her achievements in previous years and her determination to receive the highest grade.

After compiling examinations results from Grades 10, 11, and 12, Creque received the highest score of 96 % which is equivalent to an A+.

In an interview with BVI Platinum News the 17-year-old advised younger students to 'stay true to yourself'.

"Don’t rely on other others to make decisions for you, stay focused, constantly review your goals, don’t be afraid to receive support, be disciplined but remember to take breaks," Creque stated.

Her strategic study plan involved allocating adequate time for studying for each of her exams throughout the week, at least every other day. As time progressed, and an exam was upcoming, Creque increased the amount of time for study for that particular subject.

Creque also revealed to BVI Platinum News that she utilized the active recall method. For Creque, this method involved preparing a series of general questions on a topic, in addition to more specific questions that were likely to appear in the exam. Throughout the day, she would ask herself these questions during her free time, between classes or while she was talking to her friends, so that she was constantly thinking about the correct answers.

However, Creque revealed that thorough preparation for exams must always begin in the classroom. Owing to this, she stated that she would actively listen during lessons, employ a series of notetaking strategies where necessary, and always seek clarification from teachers if there were any areas discussed on a topic that she was uncertain about. The habits that she cultivated contributed to her overall success.

She plans to continue her studies at the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College (HLSCC) in September where she will either pursue a degree in Business Administration or Computer Science. Although she wants to be employed in either of these fields, she admitted that she is still unsure about a specific career path. She was also adamant that it was very important for her to be happy and comfortable with her working environment.

Creque mentioned that while she enjoyed most of the subjects taught at school, her favorites included Math, Information Technology and Music. Reflecting on her high school days, she indicated that she would miss enjoying light moments of fun and laughter with her friends.

BVI Platinum News wishes to extend congratulations to the entire ESHS Class of 2022.
