(PLTM) - A body of a deceased male believed to be that of a missing Jamaican man was found in the Horse Path area this afternoon, July 3.
"A body of a deceased male, that is believed to be 50-year-old Junior Peters, who was recently reported missing, has been found in the Horse Path area. The investigation into the disappearance of Mr. Peters continues," the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) stated.
Police are further appealing to anyone who may have information pertaining to Mr. Peter’s disappearance to contact Detective Inspector Vernon Larocque directly on 368-9809; or the Major Crime Investigation Team on 368-5682.
Peters, 50, is a Jamaican National residing at Carrot Bay, who was last seen around 4:00pm on Saturday, June 27, 2020, at Horse Path. His disappearance was said to be out of character and there were serious concern for his welfare. The circumstances of his disappearance are that on the day in question he was engaged in landscaping activities at a private residence at Horse Path.
Between 2:45pm and 4:00pm witnesses reported seeing Mr. Peters sitting on a large rock just outside of the residence. The next day the victim’s tools and machine used for landscaping was met in the same location as the day before.
On Monday the tools were seen in the same location along with the pruned vegetation which drew the suspicion of tenants of the said building. This prompted an immediate search of the area where personal effects of Mr. Peters were found.
The police were summoned and immediately processed the scene and including a search around the premises, but regrettably he was not found. The days that have followed have involved several searches around the Horse Path residence by Police, Fire, VISAR, Governor’s Office, Search and Cadaver dogs and volunteers, but same has proved futile.
House-to-House enquires were also conducted in the surrounding neighborhood but to date have yielded no results.

According to police, all information will be treated with the strictest confidence.
