(PLTM) - The Territory-wide curfew will be extended for another 14 days; however, this time, persons would be able to access critical services during day-time hours.

This was revealed tonight, March 31, by Governor Augustus Jaspert during an address to the territory.

Governor Jaspert said, when the present curfew ends on Thursday at 6 am, a new curfew will come into effect at 6.01 am and last till April 16.

Changes

The Governor said there will be two types of curfew. One he described as an ‘absolute curfew’, where residents are expected to remain indoors during the hours of 6 pm to 6 am daily.

From 6 am to 6 pm, residents will be under what he called a ‘limited and managed’ curfew where they will be allowed to access basic services.

These services include medicine, food, gas, and the ability to visit the banks.

In light of the new measures, talks are underway with selected businesses in the private sector who would be permitted to open to the public.

However, they have to ensure that they follow sanitation measures and follow social distancing rules to prevent the transmission of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).

The Governor said more details on the new curfew rules would be outlined following Cabinet's meeting tomorrow, April 1.
