(PLTM) - Offficials of the iconic Rosewood Little Dix Bay resort has denied the January 1st, 2020 opening date which was announced by a senior Tourist Board official.

Following the publication of the date as communicated by the Tourist Board official, Nike, Rosewood Little Dix Bay’s agency of record, indicated to BVI Platinum News that they are not communicating an exact opening date at this time.

Following the release of an unspecified opening date of January 2020 by the management of the iconic Rosewood Little Dix Bay resort, many commenced speculating on the actual day the property’s doors would officially swing open.

However, Tausha Vanterpool, Head of the BVI Tourist Board’s London office shared that the planned opening date is January 1, 2020.

Vanterpool made the disclosure in an interview on November 6 with a representative of the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO). The interview was carried across the tourism industry.

She noted that the property previously considered opening around Spring 2020 but decided to open at the start of the year instead.

“We are extremely ecstatic; that’s something that’s on stream for us. It was slated to open in March of next year and I think everyone is truly excited about it,” Vanterpool added.

Little Dix Bay, which for decades has been a prime employer and signature resort on the sister island of Virgin Gorda, shuttered its doors in April 2016 to commence major upgrades. This resulted in a number of Virgin Gorda residents being unemployed.

Since the closure there have been various announcements that the property was going to open around December 2017, but hurricanes Irma and Maria caused damages to the completed work which resulted in further delays.
