(PLTM) - Aspects of the Territory's culture will be demonstrated and displayed to the wider Caribbean as the delegation representing the BVI at the Caribbean Festival of Creative Arts (CARIFESTA) XIV take the stage at 7:00 pm this evening.
The presentation of the Territory's culture is part of the Festival's 'Country Night' feature, which aims to give each Caribbean country an opportunity to showcase an artistic production, reflective of their culture and heritage.
Tonight the BVI, which is being represented by a delegation that comprises of persons with skills from different aspects of arts, including poetry, dance, fabrics, photography, music, film, literature and visuals, is expected to wow the crowd.
On the schedule for this evening, it is noted that the Territory will be presenting along with countries such as St. Kitts & Nevis and Haiti at the Grand Market, Queen’s Park Savannah in Trinidad.
CARIFESTA is described as "a celebration of the ethnic and racial diversity which separately and collectively created cultural expressions that are wonderfully unique to the Caribbean." This biennial regional event aims to "depict the life of the people of the Region, their heroes, morale, myth, traditions, beliefs, creativeness, and ways of expression show the similarities and differences of the people of the Caribbean generally create a climate in which art can flourish so that artists would be encouraged to return to their homeland; and awaken a regional identity..."
While in Trinidad from August 16-25, the BVI delegation is expected to participate in several workshops and seminars related to each of their crafts.
