(PLTM) - Police today, August 25, charged Sean Martin, 27 years old of Johnson Ghut, for the murder of Jerry Castro.
Police had earlier sought witnesses, after responding to a call of a shooting close to OneMart Warehouse in Purcell Estate on Friday, August 10, 2018, where the motionless body of Castro was found. According to police, in a release issued tonight, Martins’ arrest is the result of the community cooperating with the police investigation team to ensure persons responsible for such heinous crimes are arrested and charged. Commissioner of Police, Michael Matthews commented that the community was shocked by this brutal, cold and callous killing.
“My thoughts remain with the family and friends of Mr. Castro. A dangerous and evil killer has been captured and charged, and the BVI is that much safer for it.” The Commissioner further stated, “I want to pay tribute to the small team of local detectives who made an extraordinary effort to track down this killer - they have done an excellent job. I also am grateful to those in the community who have assisted my officers - perhaps a recognition that such extreme violence will not be tolerated in the Territory.”
