$3M Cocaine Shipment To Tortola Intercepted In Trinidad

(PLTM) - Cocaine valued at TTD $20 million ( US$2.9M) bound for Tortola was found on Wednesday at Queen’s Wharf, Port of Spain, the Trinidad Express Newspaper reported on Friday, May 25.

According to the report, the drug which weighed 43.9 kilos stashed into 40 bags was found by officers of the Customs and Excise Division around 9 a.m. aboard the cargo holding area of the Elizabeth II.

The cocaine had been packed among crates of water and juice.

The Customs Division has stated that the ship was expected to depart from Port of Spain either today or tomorrow (Saturday) but since the discovery it has been prevented from departing.

No one has been arrested in connection with the find.
