(PLTM) - Businesses in the First District donated water to the Leonora Delville Primary School, with a pledge to donate other items towards repairs to the school, which sits in Capoon's Bay.

"The Principal and staff of the school received over thirty cases of drinking water and the assurance of donations in the future towards the rebuilding of the school building," Hon. Andrew Fahie, Opposition Leader and First District Representative said.

The school building was severely damaged by Hurricanes Irma and Maria.

The donations and pledges came from Tatoo's Trucking, Jerry's Car Rental, Kelly's Tire Shop, Tempo Racing Team and the Hon. Fahie.

Principal, Mrs. Pearlette Smith, her staff and students welcomed the donations to the school, as well as the pledges made for the rebuilding process.

"The school is currently housed under tents on the Capoon's Bay field due to the extensive damage to the school building. The businesses joined with the First District Community efforts to play an integral part in the rebuilding process of both the Isabella Morris Primary school in Carrot Bay and the Leonora Deliville Primary School in Capoon's Bay," Hon. Fahie said.

He indicated that, the First District Community has already contacted all the requisite education officials on their intent to work hand in glove in the restoration of the two public primary schools in the First District.

"Kudos to our First District businesses for their thoughtfulness and great community spirit… Kudos also to Mr. Hodge of Tatoo's Trucking for giving away a few well designed T-shirts that advertises his business Tatoo's Trucking."

He continued, "It only takes a spark to get the fire going. Together we will always achieve more."
