The British Virgin Islands Tourist Board (BVITB) is inviting professionals working as waiters and waitresses in full service restaurants throughout the Territory to register for an upcoming training seminar. The workshop will be held in two sessions to allow working professionals to select the most appropriate days that match their schedules. The first session will be from Dcember 7 - 8 and the second session on December 9 -10.
Acting Director of the Tourist Board, Hadassah Ward said the training is anticipated to further enhance the experiences of visitors dining at any restaurant in the Territory. "Through this workshop, it is expected that the service delivery and efficiency of servers would be greatly improved. While visitors often talk about our cuisine, we want the service that accompanies that cuisine to be equally desirable." Ward further explained that the workshop will help service professionals understand themselves and others and learn ways of doing their job to the best of their abilities when interacting with varied customers and situations.
The workshop will be held at Rosewood Little Dix Bay Resort from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. Over the years, the resort has had many collaborations with BVITB, the most recent being last Sunday´s Table Setting contest. In expressing gratitude to the resort for their continued support of the development of the tourism industry in the Virgin Islands, BVITB´s Deputy Director, Malcia Smith Hamilton said, "It is a great testimony to Rosewood Little Dix Bay´s commitment to the Territory to partner with us once again. They have decided to share their facilities with us for the entire length of the workshop, and we know participants will benefit from the experience of working in such facilities. We hope they take a lot of what they will see and learn to their individual properties."
Sharon Flax Mars, Rooms Division Manager of Rosewood Little Dix Bay Resort, said the property sees itself as a committed member of the Territory´s community and tourism industry and is therefore, always willing to assist with its development. We realise the more we help to train residents of the Territory in the best hospitality standards, we also benefit in the available human resources in the Territory as well as the overall tourism product that is the British Virgin Islands." said Flax Mars.
Business Development Coordinator, Jamila Vanterpool expanded on the particulars of the training. "The training will seek to improve every aspect of service delivery; from greeting guests, knowing their menus and beverages, interacting with guests, communicating with coworkers, the sequence of service, sending guests off and even correct restaurant opening and closing procedures."

The Business Development Unit of the British Virgin Islands Tourist Board is responsible for researching and implementing training needs for the Territory´s tourism industry. Since the beginning of this year, establishments and professionals in the sector have benefited from several workshops and training opportunities hosted by the Board.
