The striking bold blue waters in North Sound, Virgin Gorda have been listed as one of the top 10 best snorkelling destinations within the Caribbean, according to the BVI Tourist Board (TB).
In a release issued today, the Tourist Board stated that Caribbean Journal, an online news site, published "The North Sound of Virgin Gorda in the British Virgin Islands is comprised of a series of exceptional snorkeling spots, from Mosquito Island to the west to Deep Bay to the northeast, particularly if you take a sailboat," the caption reads.
Visitors flock to these islands for the renowned coral reefs, marine life and oceanic activities spread throughout the destination´s 60 islands and cays.
According to the board, the British Virgin Islands is featured along with Grand Cayman, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, The Bahamas, Mexico, St. Kitts, Grenada, Dominica, and Bonaire.
As previously reported by BVI Platinum News, Virgin Gorda's The Baths was named one of the best beaches on earth by Travel + Leisure Magazine's first ever annual best beaches survey. The Baths ranked 25 of 32 beaches.
"Best for Dramatic Landscapes: House-size granite boulders are evidence of the island's volcanic origins, creating pools and grottoes that line this popular Virgin Gorda seashore. For dramatic scenes, this beach ranked No. 4," Travel + Leisure stated on Wednesday, January 18, 2013.
The travel magazine is based in New York City, New York and publishes 12 times a year with a reported 4.8 million readers.
