Stronger Teams Dominate Volleyball Power League

The much anticipated showdown saw Phoenix Red made light work of Phoenix Blue to remain unbeaten in the BVI Amateur Volleyball Association´s Power League.

Phoenix Red outplayed Phoenix Red, 25-21, 25-12 and 25-22 for a straight set victory on Saturday, March 2 at the Multipurpose Sports Complex in Road Town.

Valissa Braithwaite finished with 8 Kills, 5 Digs and 3 Aces to lead the Phoenix Red charge. Sabinah Clement supported with 3 Kills, 5 Digs and 2 Aces.

Selkridge finished with 16 Kills, 3 Blocks and 2 Aces while her teammate Sharonda Pickering produced 4 Kills, 2 Blocks and 2 Aces.

Phoenix Red continued their hot streak by securing victory over
Phoenix Black in straight sets on Sunday, 25 - 11, 25 - 23 and 25 - 18. Valissa Braithwaite led the way for Red with 16 Kills, 5 Digs and 1 Ace while support came from Sabinah Clement´s performance of 7 Kills, 7 Digs and 2 Aces.

Top players for Phoenix Black were Victoria Washa with 3 Kills, 9 Digs and 1 Ace, and Alison Scatliffe who finished with 3 Kills, 2 Digs and 1 Block.

Phoenix Black managed to end the weekend with a victory following a 3 sets to 2 victory against Achievers on Friday evening.

The final scores were 22 - 25, 25 - 14, 25 - 18, 12 - 25 and 15 - 12. Washa led Black with 9 Kills and 3 Digs while Scatliffe had 6 Kills and 7 Digs. Achievers got good play from Symorne Penn who ended with 13 Kills, 6 Digs and 3 Aces. Amadonna Creese assisted with 7 Kills and 4 Digs.

In men´s action, Just Dream got the better of Terminators on Friday 3 sets to 1 and extended their unbeaten streak in this year´s league. The finally set talk was 25 - 14, 25 - 22, 19 - 25 and 25 - 11.

Just Dream´s Drexel Glasgow dished out 11 Kills and produced 8 Digs. Canice Marquese added 7 Kills and 6 Digs to help Just Dream´s victory.

Terminators´ Damian Creque finished with 10 Kills, 6 Blocks and 4 Digs with support from Frandy Martin who ended with 8 Kills, 10 Digs and 4 Blocks.

Just Dream also got the better of Raw Power when the two teams played on Sunday. The final set scores were 25 - 15, 25 - 16 and 25 - 18 in favor of Just Dream.

For Just Dream, Travis Jack ended with 5 Kills, 2 Blocks and 1 Dig while Willis Potter added 5 Kills, 3 Blocks and 3 Aces. Raw Power´s Leon Smith had 13 Kills and 6 Digs while Deon Vanterpool added 5 Kills, 6 Digs and 2 Aces.

Raw Power ended the weekend with a victory by defeating Firepower in straight sets on Saturday. Leon Smith had 15 Kills and 5 Digs while Vanterpool ended with 6 Kills and 6 Digs for Rawpower. Firepower´s Curtis Davis had 4 Kills, 5 Digs and 3 Aces.
