Minister of Education and Culture, Hon. Myron Walwyn has assured that the Enid Scatliffe Pre-Primary School has been given a clean bill of health and classes will resume as per norm starting tomorrow, February 7.
The Minister gave the assurance following a visit to the school where he toured the classrooms and other offices which were affected by unsanitary conditions that caused the closure of the school on Tuesday.
"The Environmental Health Department came by at midday today and gave the all clear for school to resume and everything is in order. It will be ready for opening tomorrow and we want to thank very much the Principal, Valerie Welsh and her entire staff here at the Enid Scatliffe School for the hard work that they have put in over the last couple days. We know it was very stressful for them," Minister Walwyn told BVI Platinum News.
He also thanked the Parent Teachers Association for their forthrightness and for working very closely with the Department of Education.
The Minister also thanked the Environmental Health Department, Corea's Cleaning and all the other persons who were instrumental in helping the department get the school back to normalcy.
During the visit of the school by BVI Platinum News, teachers were seen at the school helping to clean and get the classrooms set for tomorrow.

Minister Walwyn pointed out that the biggest issue was that sometime last week when the telephone company came into the building to install some telephone wires, one of the roof tiles came down in the principal's office and it was discovered that there were rat fecaes on the opposite side of the tile.
"Upon examination it seems as if it permeated the entire school and the stench certainly took over and created a health issue for the students. So we came in and we had Corea's Cleaning to come in and take all the tiles down; sanitize the entire roof; sanitize the roof tiles as well as both sides of the tiles; clean all the walls and walkways. Anything that we think could have possibly been contaminated were cleaned," Minister Walwyn stated.
The issue first surfaced last Thursday, January 31 and students were evacuated from the classrooms.
