The British Virgin Islands Amateur Volleyball Association (BVIAVA) has announced the opening of its 2013 Power League slated to start Saturday, January 19 at the Multipurpose Sports Complex in Road Town.
Public Relations Officer of the BVIAVA, Cleave Farrington indicated that the league opens at 5:00 pm.
In last year's championship, new-comer Phoenix Red defeated the Legends 25-15, 25-20 and 19-17 after losing the first two sets, 25-16 and 27-25. For the men, Terminators won its 17th league title by wrapping up the championship against Just Bless in four sets, 26-18, 20-25, 15-19 and 25-22.
Farrington noted that teams are asked to submit rosters to any member of the BVIAVA Executive between Monday, January 7 and Friday, January 11 with a registration fee of US$250.00.
"If teams require rosters, they are asked to collect same at the BVI Olympic Committee office, Elmore Stoutt High School attention Willis Potter or BVIAVA Secretary Kisheba Sprauve," Farrington pointed out in a press release.
He indicated that the BVIAVA will hold a referee and stats clinic between Monday, January 7 and Wednesday, January 9 starting at 7:00 pm nightly at the BVI Olympic Committee office. The clinic will be facilitated by the association's Referee Coordinator, Mr. Stephen Payne.
The BVIAVA has also planned a meeting for all coaches and managers of teams playing in this year's league on Tuesday, January 15 starting at 6:30 pm at the BVI Olympic Committee office.
