As residents of the BVI gear up to celebrate another Emancipation Festival, Digicel has announced it has become the Platinum and Exclusive Telecommunications Sponsor of the winning troupe - Treasures of the BVI.

President Maria Hopkins sealed the deal when she accepted a cheque presented by Digicel´s Corporate Sales Manager Matthew Daly earlier today.

"Treasures of the BVI has been working hard to ensure that we retain the coveted title we captured two years ago of being the undisputed number one troupe in the annual August Monday Festival Parade," Hopkins stated. "We mesmerized everyone with our colourful introduction in 2010 and our under-the-sea adventure in 2011. With the generous financial assistance provided by Digicel and other kind sponsors, this year will be no exception! We are coming out again to WIN!"

The excited troupe leader said Treasures of the BVI has yet another enticing adventure to offer that will leave the community looking forward to their presence and participation in VI Festival for years to come.

In handing over the cheque, Daly said Digicel is delighted to be a part of this historic celebration of the Territory´s emancipation. "We are happy to support Treasures of the BVI as they prepare to showcase their talents and captivate the thousands of revelers who will turn out on August Monday to watch this parade. That´s part of what Digicel is all about - supporting the communities that welcome us, in ways that matter the most."

The Virgin Islands Festivals and Fairs Committee is organizing this year´s festival activities, which kick off on July 16th and run until August 11th under the theme "Bringing Back our Cultural Past; Let´s Celebrate BVI Festival with Class". The slogan is: "Emancipation: A Golden Story to Tell, Enjoy VI Festival 2012".

The August Monday Parade, which will feature the Digicel-sponsored Treasures of the BVI Troupe, is scheduled for August 6th along the streets of Road Town and everyone is invited to line the parade route to witness this spectacular event.
