Parade Results Are In! BVI Anasazi Dancers & Showtime Band Are Big Winners

The Virgin Islands Festivals and Fairs Committee this afternoon, August 10 released the official results for the annual August Monday Road Town Parade. BVI Anasazi Dancers won in both the adult and children troupes, while for the sixth consecutive year, Showtime Band secured the Road March title.

Adult Traditional Majorettes

1st - Twirling Striders En Masse
2nd - Diamond Girls Majorettes
3rd - U'Neek Dancers
4th - Fete T'Niques

Individual
1st - Treasures of the BVI Queen of the Band
2nd - Cultural Melting Pot
3rd - The Diamond Jubilee
4th - Limping Jack

Traditional Moko Jumbies
1st - BVI Ultimate Sky Dancers
2nd - BVI Elite Sky Dancers
3rd - Treasures of the BVI

Adult
1st - BVI Anasazi Dancers
2nd - Treasures of the BVI
3rd - Sunshine Dancers
4th - Party Animals

Children
1st - BVI Anasazi Dancers
2nd - Treasures of the BVI
3rd - U'Neek Dancers (Pom Pom)
4th - Fete T'Niques

1st - Hats off to the BVI's Yesteryears

Road March
Showtime Band - Exercise

Rhodni Skelton, Public Relations Officer of the VI Festivals and Fairs Committee stated that the results released are the official and final results of the winners from the Road Town Parade.

He said the results and the judges' scorecards were thoroughly scrutinized by the VI Festivals and Fairs Executive Committee and they are satisfied that everything was handled fairly.

"We want to thank all of the participants in this year's parades and encourage them to return for the 2013 Festival and invite new entrants to join in the fun. We are a new committee and learning as we go. As such, we ask all entrants to assist us in making every subsequent parade exponentially better. We welcome their advice, suggestion and criticism as we build up to our 60th Festival Anniversary," Skelton stated.

Ppl on this lil 2x4 does really act like they either have no commonsense or just plain out moo moo. In a competition you must have a winner & a loser, if you win kudos to you for that, if you lost still kudos for coming out & giving the crowd a performance. First I must say thank you to all the participants in this year's parade. You made is promising and exciting. However, I was not pleased with the FB war that I witnessed on Thursday or Friday after results were given... All persons involved were grown women.. The bashing and name calling... more

Could have, should have, would have. The fact of the matter is that they did NOT come second place, so finding faults now is NOT in any shape, fashion, or form going to change the results. There must be a winner and a loser. This time its Anasazi, just get motivated for a greater production... more

I think the committee need to stop the competition with parade, why cant they jus come out and celebrate emanicipation...having parade as a competition is causin these troupes to act like animals against one another...Stop the war!!!!!!
