Hundreds of revelers took to the streets this morning, August 6 for the first of three consecutive Rise and Shine Tramps for the August Festival celebrations.
Despite the earlier than usual start, many tagged behind their favorite bands who were mounted on trucks. Included in the street procession were VI Band, Showtime Band, D-Squad Band, Spectrum Band and Prime Time band.

Revelers donned costumes and face masks of various sorts in a truly festive atmosphere.
The mass moved from the Port Purcell area and slowly made its way to the Administrative Drive in Road Town where the bands played for another 15 minutes before the end of the session.
Chairman of the Virgin Islands Festivals and Fairs Committee, Marvin Blyden said the goal of having the bands reach their destination by 7:00 am was achieved.
Blyden said unlike previous years, he has not heard of any fights or crime-related incidents during the session.
"None was reported to me and I did not observe any because I was moving about the route," Blyden told BVI Platinum News.
Blyden shared that some of the bands had minor issues getting started, but the entire event went well.
He said the Committee is looking forward to tomorrow's Rise and Shine Tramp which will feature Caribbean Ecstasy and New Era bands.
Tomorrow's tramp will be followed by the water sports events.
The third Rise and Shine Tramp takes place on Wednesday at East End.
