(PLTM) - GIS - The Minister for Communications and Works, Honourable Kye M. Rymer, recently unveiled the Government of the Virgin Islands' Civil Mitigation Policy, a vital initiative aimed at improving infrastructure management within communities.

In his remarks, Minister Rymer stated, “This policy signifies a transformative approach to accountability, equity, and the strategic allocation of resources. It establishes clear criteria for civil mitigation projects, introduces a Technical Assessment Committee to impartially evaluate and prioritise requests, and creates a standardised process for procurement, monitoring, and evaluation.”

Eligible projects under this policy encompass a range of initiatives, including:

Road Repairs and Paving Sidewalk and Kerb Wall Construction Retaining Walls and Road Slabs Drainage Improvements Cleaning and Clearing of Ghuts Installation, Repairs, and Refurbishment of Government Infrastructure Road Clearing in response to unforeseen weather events

It is essential to note that the implementation of approved projects will depend on available funding. Financial resources for civil mitigation projects are allocated through a dedicated district fund in each of the nine electoral districts.
